A Champion collaboration!

Our next project is an Arts Council funded theatre collaboration with Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club.

Boxing Club Rules will be a play about Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club, its members and coaches, their stories and motivations, the community in which they live and the challenges, ups and downs of their lives and the place of boxing and training.

We’ll be working with professional actors and members of the club to create a performance that is exciting, dramatic, physical and surprising.

This knockout project has been brought about by Artistic Director Paul Sayers joining LABC and becoming involved in this fantastic club. LABC is a tremendous community asset in the Sandpits area of Ludlow which offers superb fitness and boxing skills training to all ages. It is particularly beneficial for young people offering structure, discipline and a friendly welcome in a purpose built boxing gym.

It marks a significant development for us – getting Arts Council funding to be able to explore community theatre, enabling us to reach wider audiences, collaborating with different groups and bringing our unique brand of theatre to different communities.

Indeed, we’ve managed performing in a brewery in recent years, so why not a boxing club?

The performances will take place at Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club, Wheeler Road, Ludlow, SY8 1JD on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November at 1.00, 4.00 and 7.00pm
