The Country Wife/ Play reading/ Shakespeare workshops/ Christmas Cabaret

From Shakespeare to Restoration comedy

Next June we’re modernising…to the Restoration! Our play will be The Country Wife by William Wycherley. Restoration comedies are wild send-ups of manners, morality and society’s expectations, and are predominantly about sex, and the foibles of reputation and pride. With a dose of modern energy and healthy script cutting (as we do with Shakespeare) they make for raucous and entertaining theatre - which we hope to bring you next June.

The Country Wife will perform Wednesday 14th to Thursday 22nd June 2017 (except Sun 18th) at Ludlow Brewery. Further details in the months to come.

Play reading begins again

Our monthly play reading evenings (third Tuesday of the month) begin again on Tuesday 20th September in the Sitting Room at the Blue Boar, Mill Street, Ludlow, 7.30pm. These are welcoming and inclusive and no acting experience is needed. Everyone gets a chance to read, all scripts are provided and a small donation is requested towards costs.

Weekend of Words: Adventures in Shakespeare

We’re delighted to be part of the Weekend of Words festival at Ludlow Assembly Rooms 21st to 23rd October.

We’ll be running a workshop at 12.00 and 1.00pm on Saturday 22nd - Adventures in Shakespeare - for parents/relatives/guardians and their children who will become players together in Shakespearean world. No acting experience is required and we will make sure it is lively, engaging and highly enjoyable.

Christmas Cabaret - Saturday 17th December

Last year’s Christmas Cabaret was such a lot of fun we’ll be doing it again on Saturday December 17th at the Blue Boar, Ludlow. It’s going to be a challenge to match the drunken dance of the cygnets in tinsel shorts, but we will bring you other seasonal surprises along with beatifully sung songs, movingly read poetry and prose and lots of sing-along carols. Look out for the posters closer to Christmas.
